Our Systems
Single-ply applications (TPO, PVC and EPDM)
What is a Single-Ply Roof?
Single-ply roofing applications use a variety of materials, but they all have a common characteristic in that they are designed for installation in a single layer. In general, they have tremendous flexibility, and they are all resistant to ultraviolet radiation, especially when compared to other roofing products.
Most single-ply roofing systems are offered with a black or white finish and are either fastened or glued directly above various roof insulation products. The description of the three main types of single-ply roofing applications is below;

TPO roofing membran
Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) is a roofing membrane which has garnered a great deal of interest and attention over the last few years. The material itself is composed of compounded thermoplastic polyolefin, with a fabric center that’s reinforced by polyester, and which has a base made of a TPO polymer. In some ways, TPO roofing membranes provide advantages that other roofing membranes can’t match.
In addition to being highly resistant to ultraviolet radiation and ozone influence, TPO membranes offer some other significant benefits. Among all single-ply roofing systems, TPO membranes provide the highest level of energy efficiency, and that can be quite significant to a commercial owner. It also has a strong resistance to mold and excellent heat reflection capabilities, and it’s not impacted by thermal expansion and contraction as much as some other systems.
It’s available in a wide variety of color options, and that allows it to fit many different types of buildings, in many different settings. TPO roofing membranes are easy to install and generally carry a lower price, which makes them ideal for installation on low-sloped buildings. The mil thickness of a TPO roofing membrane ranges from between 40 mils and 80 mils.
PVC roofing systems
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) roofing systems are made from the same material as the familiar PVC pipes commonly used in construction, although they also include an added benefit of plasticizers, which help to make them pliable for use as a roofing membrane. PVC roofing systems share a common characteristic with TPO roofing, in that they use a base and have a polyester-reinforced middle section.
PVC roofing systems have many of the same benefits of TPO membranes but provide some unique advantages of their own. They are heat-welded to create one solid layer, and they have a very high level of structural integrity. They are lightweight and straightforward to install and are highly resistant to bacteria and plant roots. PVC roofing systems are the strongest of all single-ply roofing systems, and they can be custom-made to be completely seamless. The mil thickness of PVC roofing is between 36 mils and 90 mils, and their extra strength makes them a bit more expensive.
Our SBS roofing systems are installed with highest quality products available.
Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM)
This type of roofing system consists of a synthesized elastomeric compound which creates a roofing membrane of synthetic rubber, and it’s very popular as an option for commercial roofs having a low slope. The main ingredients are propylene, ethylene, and a small amount of a solution of diene monomer. It has achieved strong popularity as a commercial roofing system because of its strong resistance to weathering and abrasion, and its tremendous flexibility, even in areas which get very cold.
It’s exceptionally durable and can be installed quickly and easily, which also contributes to its popularity. The mil thickness of an EPDM roofing system is between 45 mils and 90 mils, and it comes in a width range of between 7.5 feet and 50 feet. Because it’s so versatile, relatively inexpensive, and comes in a wide range of widths and thicknesses, it has become a solid choice for many commercial roofing systems.

Warranties
When considering the purchase of a new roofing system, a review of two separate warranties is essential. There is a manufacturer’s warranty on the products used to create the specific roofing system. This warranty will cover any defects in the manufacture of the roof membrane. You can review the entire NRCA’s consumer advisory bulletin addressing roofing warranties for helpful information. Upon project completion, your contractor should provide you with a certificate for your records.
Also, your roofing contractor will provide you with a warranty covering the labor and installation of the roofing system. This warranty will include what is covered and what is not. SQI Roofing offers a five-year warranty on all roofing installations in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty.
